RESOURCE GUIDE:
Under, Not Under, and Around Music Rights in Community Theatre - A Community Theatre Resource Guide by ITA member Lucinda Lawrence. YOU can understand the tangled 'bundle of rights' and use your understanding effectively with this guide to copyright, moral rights, public domain, which permissions and licenses apply, and where to find and acquire them. https://1787themusical.com/portal-to-other-music-and-interests-of-lucinda-lawren-ce/ in both slides format (perhaps easier to navigate and easier to digest in smaller bits) and printer-friendly PDF. (Refresh if link broken, red font.) Since there are many variables for our uses of music and since this covers areas of law, this is thorough and, therefore, not brief.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
The Theatre Department at North Park University, in Chicago, has been adapting to the current pandemic climate and giving current students the opportunity to continue developing their craft. Most recently, they partnered with Manual Cinema to produce Midnight in the Oasis - a visual album of collaboration using poetry, puppetry, and film. Poet and North Park University alumna, Christine Kanownik, provided a poem and current students, together with a talented group of alumni artists, created the visual effects. View the final project on the North Park University - School of Music, Art, and Theatre YouTube channel here. Enjoy! (2/8/21)
